Appearance
The Pasilla pepper is also known as the "little raisin". And no wonder. Its dark colour and surface resemble a raisin. It normally grows to a length of 8-10 cm.

Dark and delicate at the same time
The peppers have a sweet, smoky flavour and an earthy aroma. Among other chillies, it is one of the less hot ones. If you need a comparison, a Jalapeño has an average of 5000 SHU, which is once as much as a Pasilla.
But this number is very approximate. Just as the Jalapeño can be much higher, there are some really hot Pasillas out there!
However, the combination of all these characteristics makes these chillies a delicate affair.
