Why do chili peppers burn?
Burning is caused by the plant alkaloid capsaicin. Burning comes when capsaicin comes into contact with mucous membranes. Capsaicin binds to temperature receptors and causes a feeling of warmth or pain - it's the same as burning yourself on a hot object or scalding your mouth with hot tea.
Do you know why you are addicted to chili peppers?
Capsaicin increases the thermal effect of food. Capsaicin stimulates the brain to produce endorphins, leading to euphoria.
Can I get resistance to capsaicin?
Repeated consumption of chili peppers (hot) leads to a decrease in sensitivity to capsaicin.
What is the best way to alleviate the burning sensation of chili peppers in the mouth?
The hotness caused by ingesting hot pepper or, better, capsaicin, is best driven by dairy products. The casein contained in milk breaks the bonds between capsaicin and pain receptors.
How do I get capsaicin, the burning of peppers from my hands?
Wash several times with soap and water, then rub vegetable oil into the skin. After two minutes, remove it with alcohol and wash your hands once more with moisturizing soap.
