Culinary uses

Because it is the world's hottest pepper, handle it with care. It is better to add less and then gradually add more to your food. Its taste hides notes of chocolate, cherry or cinnamon.

It is popular in Vietnamese, Latin American, Chinese, Indian, Mexican or Oriental cuisine. It's great in sauces, salsas, soups, legumes and vegetable or meat dishes.

Country of origin

Extremely high heat level

Carolina is currently the hottest pepper in the world. It is 400 times hotter than the famous Jalapeño pepper and more than twice as hot as the Bhut Jolokia pepper.

There is no pepper that will rock you like the Carolina Reaper can. But you'll know when your eyes and nose are running, your mouth is paralyzed, you're hiccupping and you feel like you've stepped into hell. It's so hot and spicy that you should wear protective gloves to manipulate it! But you'll be rewarded with a wonderfully fruity-sweet taste.

The interesting fact about this pepper is that its hotness is not caused by the seeds but by the white flesh that surrounds them.
